Tristan Kobayashi -
Walk the Fire
I'm Tristan Kobayashi.
I'm 25 years old. I've been teaching various movement practices for the past 5 years.
I run both an online coaching program with students all over the world, and international workshops in varying topics on a regular basis.
Now to tell you more about who I am rather than what I do.....
“This is the real secret to life - to be completely engaged in what you are doing in the here and now. And instead of calling it work, realize that it is play.”
— Alan Watts
I have been involved in a multitude of practices from a young age, including everything from skateboarding to capoeira.
For the last 5 years, I have been deep in research and teaching of yoga, handbalance, mobility training, floor work, gymnastics skill and strength practices, olympic lifting, boxing, contempory dance, brazilian Jiujitsu, and more.
The reason I choose a movement practice instead of a specialised one, is because it gives me the beginners mind. A beginner's mind is open to learning at all times, and from anywhere.
I started from nothing - being immobile as they come (I couldn't touch my toes), unable to do chin ups, having sore joints, low energy, and not a clue as to why. I obsessively researched all elements of nutritional, supplementation, lifestyle enhancing and movement based practices over 6 hours per day, every day. It didn't take too long to figure out what works, and more importantly, what doesn't. I now train 30+ hours per week, with great energy, strong joints, and a body capable of all my childhood ambition.
It is this that gives me the teaching skills I have now. I battled through countless issues on my own journey, giving me the tools to help others with their struggles. I'm not here to teach only the elite few, but anyone who wants to improve their quality of life through movement.
Nobody wants to be stuck on the sofa watching netflix hours a day, but the reality is that most people have never been taught how and where to start.
I want to be that help - that starting point for greater freedom in people's lives. This is why I do what I do.
